STATEMENT OF WORK

Project Titles: AI-005034-12 HIV infection In Vivo and In Vitro

Proposed Vendor

Illumina, Inc.

5200 Illumina Way San Diego, CA 92121‐1975 858.202.4719 Email: aalegrado@illumina.com

Background Information

The Vaccine Research Center (VRC) is developing vaccines for HIV, Ebola and potentially, other diseases. There is currently an Illumina sequencing system, consisting of a HiSeq, MiSeq, and cBot, in the lab that is used to support ongoing research in the Human Immunology Section (HIS). The Illumina system is a highly sensitive platform which allows researchers to perform sequencing by synthesis (SBS) technology, which has been shown to produce high data quality.

Purpose and Objectives for the Procurement

The National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has a sole source requirement for the service and maintenance of the Illumina HiSeq, MiSeq, and cBot currently in place in the lab. Repairs to the Illumina system without a service contract in place could easily double the cost of the service contract. The Illumina system is used to provide sequencing data that supports a range of projects in multiple labs throughout the VRC. If it is not in working order and in need of repair, several vital projects will be put on hold. This acquisition will support sequencing-based research needs of the Human Immunology Section (HIS) as well as various other laboratories of the VRC.

Contractor Requirements

The proposed vendor will guarantee that the Illumina HiSeq, MiSeq, and cBot are maintained in full, working order. The Comprehensive service plan includes the following:

· Full coverage for parts, labor and travel

· Reagent replacement upon hardware failures

· 1 Preventive Maintenance visit

· Remote Technical Support

· 3 business day average on‐site response

· Hardware/Software updates

· On‐site applications support

· Discounts on advanced training.
