SOUTHWEST FISHERIES SCIENCE CENTER

STATEMENT OF WORK

Hazardous Waste Removal

I. Background/Overview:

The Santa Cruz Laboratory requires the pickup and disposal of hazardous materials used in their scientific labs. Hazardous materials are commonly used in the scientific labs on site to facilitate project specific experiments and other day-to-day scientific work. The hazardous materials must be disposed of properly in accordance with federal and local state laws.

II. Scope of Work The contractor shall prepare and maintain hazardous chemical removal preparation for quarterly pickup on a monthly basis. The contractor shall properly dispose of all hazardous waste at the Santa Cruz Laboratory on a quarterly basis through the period of performance.

III. Tasks

· Task 1: Prepare hazardous waste for pickup and removal on a monthly basis.

· Task 2: Pickup and removal of the hazardous waste on-site at the Santa Cruz Laboratory in accordance with federal and local state laws.

Additional Task Info:

· Ideally, the contractor would bring their own barrels and packing materials when they did a pick-up and replace the barrel with another barrel. We would like the contractor to use their own packaging material and the consumables were built into the cost of packaging & removing hazardous waste. We are hesitant to purchase our own barrels and packaging supplies because we don’t want to have to buy a new barrel each time hazardous waste is packaged and removed.

· Each month, the contractor shall remove the hazardous waste from our satellite accumulation storage and into the hazardous waste shed and begin building the inventory of hazardous waste being they moved into the hazardous waste shed. This will help facilitate building the cost for the quarterly hazardous waste pick up and removal. The hazardous waste stored in the hazardous waste shed shall be removed quarterly and properly disposed of by the contractor. An approved TSDF site is fine but the contractor needs to provide the signed paperwork verifying the hazardous waste was dropped off at an approved TSDF site and the inventory that was included in that drop off.
