PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT

Bowling Center Maintenance

1. Background. The Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH-G) is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), dating back to 1851 when it was established as the United States Soldiers Home. In 1991, the AFRH-G became an independent Federal agency and is the only agency that does not receive appropriated (tax payer) funds for its operation. The Agency’s income flows from enlisted men and women serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and in a trust fund that has operated since the Home’s beginning.

This modern retirement community offers Residential Living, Assisted Living, Long Term Care and Memory Support to our Nation’s Veterans. The campus is located at 1800 Beach Boulevard, Gulfport, Mississippi.

In 2005, the Katrina Hurricane severely damaged the Gulfport, Mississippi Campus of the Armed Forces Retirement Home, resulting in its closing and many of the residents were moved to the Washington Campus. In October 2010, the doors opened and a new and impressive home in Gulfport, MS was unveiled. The new retirement community (CCRC) will be home to approximately 600 residents.
