About this file

This document is a Justification and Approval for a sole source contract award. The Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contract Office 19 sought to award a firm fixed price contract to MSC Design Build LLC, a verified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, to provide construction services updating operating rooms and GI procedure rooms at the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center. Services included replacing twenty-eight surgical boom systems, doors, cabinets, flooring, and making necessary electrical and medical gas connections at a total estimated cost of $2,899,969.79 over a one hundred thirty-five calendar day period of performance. The justification cited the authority under the VAAR to award sole source contracts under $5,000,000 to verified SDVOSBs, and determined MSC Design Build LLC was a responsible contractor that could provide the required services at a fair and reasonable price based on their past successful performance on similar projects for the Salt Lake City VAMC. The contract was subsequently awarded to MSC Design Build LLC on September 27, 2022.

In addition, the OR areas are having various doors, cabinets/countertops, and flooring sections replaced.
