1.0 TITLE
Preventative Maintenance and Servicing for Government-Owned Freezers and Incubators Utilized by the Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Genetics.
2.0 BACKGROUND
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Genetics (LCBG) currently encompasses the work of 12 principal investigators supervising independent research programs with highly overlapping experimental goals and approaches. These investigators conduct a research program consisting of basic and translational components that are designed to elucidate the cellular and tissue changes associated with specific stages of carcinogenesis, detect and characterize genetic modifications fundamental to cancer susceptibility and progression, define the molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of major human cancers, and develop rational approaches for cancer prevention and treatment.
As part of its ongoing research efforts, the LCBG maintains large quantities and several different models of government-owned freezers and CO2 incubators. These instruments require routine preventative maintenance and calibration. These services help ensure the instruments deliver reliable temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels for controlled experience.
