DRAFT-STATEMENT OF WORK

TITLE: Preventive and Software Maintenance Service Contract for the NIST NSI X50 X-ray Tomograph Scanner

LAB REQUESTING SERVICE: Material Measurement Laboratory, Applied Chemicals and Materials Division

I. BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Applied Chemicals and Materials Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has acquired, in 2017 via GSA Excess, a North Star Imaging Inc. X50 X-ray computed tomograph scanner. To keep this equipment (worth more than $500K new) in top and safe operating condition, preventive maintenance must be carried out twice per year. The complex operating and reconstruction software for this instrument, which is run by high-performance computers, can also require maintenance and support. The most cost-effective way of securing this preventive and software maintenance is to have a preventive and software maintenance service contract for this instrument. This preventive maintenance agreement shall entitle NIST to unlimited phone support for equipment and software. The X50 instrument is necessary for NIST’s metal fracture and fatigue research, since NIST’s other X-ray tomography instruments cannot image the larger metal specimens that the X50 can image.

II. SCOPE OF WORK:

Two site visits per year for equipment and software preventive maintenance will be accomplished under this service agreement/contract.

III. SPECIFICATIONS:

The Contractor shall provide a preventive and software maintenance that meets the following minimum technical requirements:
