Questions and Answers for BSL2 safety cabinet compatible with existing equipment

Q. From a design perspective, it would be easier to setup the enclosure to operate similar to a Class II, B2 enclosure, with 100% of the air being exhausted into the lab space after passing through a HEPA filter. Would this be acceptable? If not, there would be more time and effort (cost) required to test and balance a system to achieve the A2 70/30 split…

A. The proposed solution would be acceptable.

Q. What are the power, data & utility requirements for the devices to be installed within the enclosure?

A. The devices to be installed will require power (120V, 60Hz), and three data cables (USB). No utility (H2O, N2) will be required.

Q. Do any connections need to be setup for passage of liquid out of the enclosure?

A. No.

Q. Confirm a unit that is >72” in length and ~64” in depth is capable of being installed into desired location without disassembly or assembly onsite. i.e. double doors required for access to all rooms, hallways and laboratory…

A. The length will not be a problem, but the doors into the laboratory only open to ~60”, so assembly on-site is recommended.

Q. Does the entire unit need to be installed upon a base stand with casters? Or, does just the table which the equipment is placed on, which is able to be rolled into and out of the enclosure? With the enclosure sitting on the floor…

A. We had envisioned (and got quotes for) a base stand with casters supporting the enclosure at bench-top height.
