About this file

This Market Research Memorandum details a federal contract for malaria surveillance services in the Amazonas region of Peru, issued by the Naval Medical Research Unit South (NAMRU SOUTH) for Fiscal Year 2025. The government estimated contract value is $22,438.54, using NAICS Code 541990. The primary objective is to obtain research services from an institution capable of conducting comprehensive malaria surveillance, including preparing a research protocol, collecting blood samples from suspected cases, screening specimens through microscopy and molecular methods, and periodically sending collected specimens and clinical data to NAMRU SOUTH.

The market research process identified Universidad Nacional Toribio Rodriguez de Mendoza as the sole capable provider, after conducting research via email and telephone conferences between October 2024 and February 2025. The contract requires collecting a minimum of 150 clinical specimens, performing malaria screening, providing monthly reports, and supporting scientific manuscript preparation. The project directly supports the Febrile and Vector Borne Infections (FVBI) focus area of the Global Emerging Infections Surveillance and Response Branch, with potential strategic implications for SOUTHCOM operations in Latin America. The contract was awarded on 15 April 2025 for a 6-month period.
