RESPONSE TO RFI QUESTIONS
RFQ N6890819Q0051 Amendment 01 Dental Lab Services Outsourcing
1. The purpose of this amendment is to provide answers to the request for information questions and to extend the proposal due date from 14 June 2019, 12:00 p.m. to 19 June 2019, 12:00 p.m.
2. All questions pertaining this solicitiation has been reviewed and or answer and no other questions will be accepted at this time.
Questions/Responses
1. Under dentures & partials, the flexi finish materials are TCS & VAlplast. Would Dentsply FRS flexible material be acceptable, instead of TCS & Valplast?
NO, Our Command lab has the materials to repair a Valplast prosthesis.
2. Under dentures & partials, the metal framework indicates Vitallium. Would Ticonium metal be acceptable, instead of Vitallium?
Yes
3. Please clarify on the below requirements since Dental Lab's normally don't need that specific certification: b. The supplies and or equipment must be certified for use in U.S.
hospitals adhering to UL and JACHO requirements as required. Verification must be submitted with proposals. Must be certified and approved for use with the VISX, STAR S4 System. The Government reserves the right to request documentation of approval and or certification.
This question should be asked after award for the Dental Lab whose placing the order.
Dentists and dental lab technicians buy products from vendors who get FDA approval for a product For example: implant parts. The manufacturer gets the government approval to use a product or part on patients. The manufacturer does not have the approval on the packaging.
No dental product or part has a stamp of approval on the package stating “approved by….”
Our providers and lab technicians do not know what UL and JACHO certification requirements are for the hundreds of products and parts we use. Additionally, we do not know what VISX or STAR S4 System is.
4. Solicitation specifies all dentures are processed in Lucitone 199 acrylic. Would a different brand of acrylic be acceptable?
5. Would UPS be an acceptable alternative to FedEX. We can offer better pricing with
UPS?
6. Can we get an estimate of Base Year quantities for each line item?
Not possible, since multiple factors will determine the quantities for each year. For example, number of Air Force , Army, and USCG members who use our clinic and the number of providers that work in our clinic. We may lose providers or gain them when new ships or squadrons move to our areas of coverage. The number of lab technicians may change at any given moment.
7. How many vendors will be awarded? One Vendor will be awarded
8. Under Crown & Bridge, for the items PFM Semi-Precious, PFM High Noble, Semi Precious metal Try-in, & High Nobel Try-in, can a price be offered for up to one pennyweight of those metals and then another price if the metal weight exceeds one pennyweight of metal?
Because a crown can vary in weight due to the size and location in the mouth, the cost of the metal per crown can also vary. The size of a crown can differ up to 3-4 times in the posterior as compared to the anterior teeth that are smaller. Additionally, the price of gold changes daily on the world market.
9. Is there a specific material of feldspathic porcelain desired for the feldspathic porcelain veneers?
No
10. Under Crown & Bridge, for the item FGC,can a price be offered for up to one pennyweight of precious metal and then another price if the metal weight exceeds one pennyweight of metal? Because a crown can vary in weight due to the size and location in the mouth, the cost of the metal per crown can also vary.
Yes, some vendors may absorb the cost in their quote and some may charge extra based on the weight.
