About this file

This document is a Brand Name Justification for a federal contract opportunity to procure 20 Motorola APX 8000 All Band Portable Radios and 6 multi-unit chargers for the Naval Aviation Schools Command (NASC) at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida.

The justification states that the Motorola APX 8000 radios are required for standardization and compatibility with the 30 existing radios used by NASC staff and instructors. Using a different brand would require retraining and would not be compatible with the existing equipment and procedures, creating a safety risk. The total estimated value of the requirement is $168,774.38 in fiscal year 2024. The technical and contracting authorities have certified the brand name justification, and legal and competition advocate reviews have been completed.
