Repair Item: SIG-100
Repair: Electrical hookup at Facility #501- Fuels 2
Background
As described in the Minor Work Request (MWR) SIG-100 dated 10 January 2018 and subsequent discussions with NAS Sigonella Fuels, an estimate has been prepared for the electrical hook-up of the Facility #501, located in the Fuels 2 compound, at NAS Sigonella - NAS 2.
The original request consisted in the following: Connect electrical power to Facility #501 on Fuels II compound.
The Amec Foster Wheeler Site Manager performed a site survey together with NAS Sigonella Fuels personnel and with specialty subcontractors, in order to develop the technical and economical approach for the repair.
The following pictures show the Facility #501.

Proposed Repair Actions
The proposed approach consists of the following activities:
- Installation of a new dedicated conduit from the electrical substation to the electrical panel of the Facility #501; the portion between the two buildings will be laid underground, at a shallow depth, in order to prevent the slips, trips and falls hazards. To enter the building, only a small portion of the new conduit will be left aboveground, and it will be properly made visible.
- Supply and installation of a new electrical cable, 3X6 FG7 for 220v, of adequate length.
The cable will be connected to the electrical panel of the Facility #501, but the connection in the switch in the electrical substation has to be performed by NAS Sigonella PWD.
- Installation of a local grounding system for the Facility #501, with the installation of a ground manhole, a 16 mm cable and a metal rod of adequate length, 1,5 m.
It is excluded the obtainment of the Digging Permit, considering the shallow excavation depth of maximum 3 feet; should a deeper excavation be requested, Amec Foster Wheeler have to submit an updated cost estimate.
Specialized personnel, competent for electrical works, have to perform all activities. All activities must be discussed and agreed upon in advance with NAS Sigonella Fuels.
Timeline
The repair activities are anticipated to be conducted within two (2) working days. Considering the urgency of the request, Amec Foster Wheeler is available to procure all the materials and equipment within one day from the approval of the cost estimate; if the cost estimate is approved within 12 January at 12.00, Amec Foster Wheeler will be ready to start the repair activities on Monday, 15 January.
The weather conditions will be monitored during the execution of the activities: possible delays could be originated by unfavourable meteorological conditions.
Validity of the Cost Estimate
This cost estimate has a validity of 60 days.
