N6809317Q0079 – Steel Shelving Questions

1. The style of shelving for storing the archive boxes has starter units and add-on units. Starter units include two end panels and adders include one end panel. Is a layout/drawing of the shelving available, so vendors can know how many sections are in each row? Or do you want all the sections to be starters? All shelves should be starters to allow for movement of shelves as needed.

2. With regards to the shelving having closed end uprights and backs - Are boxes being stored from both sides of the shelving? No. We want backs on all shelves. Center stops are commonly used, which don’t allow users to push boxes off the other side of the shelving. Can you please clarify? There should be only one box per shelf, given the depth correction of 16 inches vice 32 inches. Backs are required.

3. Does installation need to be included, or is dock delivery sufficient? Installation should be included in the overall price.

a. Subsequent questions regarding delivery:

i. What floor is installation on? Installation will be on the concrete slab located in a warehouse, first floor. See attached pictures.

ii. Is there a loading dock? There is no loading dock located at the building (NH115), but there is a loading dock on campus at the Main Hospital (NH100) to be able to get the items off a large vehicle, then transported using a forklift.

iii. If above or below first floor, is an elevator provided, or are stair steps encountered? The location is a warehouse building, first floor, with large rollup door access.

iv. ** We will be able to allow installation of the shelves the same day we receive them.

4. The specification is for 32” deep shelving. Do you mean 16” back to back sections? The shelves should be 16 inches deep vice 32 inches.

5. The quantity calls for 1 unit and the dimensions for the unit must be 42”Wx32”Dx88 ¼”H, 8 shelves high, 36 sections and 7 openings, designed to hold “1512 boxes”. I am unsure that the shelving would be able to hold one thousand and twelve boxes well, unless it were one long unit that stretched wide but that conflicts with the dimensions of the one unit specification. Can you clarify for me the details? One shelving unit should be as follows: 42 inches wide; 16 inches deep; 88 ¼ inches tall. We need enough shelves to hold 1512 boxes, which would be around 36 units.

6. I understand the dimensional sizes of the boxes and the shelving, but the description does not give any details about the space where these shelving units are to be placed – this is important due to the fact that the shelving can be attached in rows using common pieces, and without knowing the footprint of the space, I would have to quote each shelf unit individually. That is not cost effective. Is there a diagram of the space available?

a. One shelving unit should be as follows: 42 inches wide; 16 inches deep; 88 ¼ inches tall. We need enough shelves to hold 1512 boxes, which would be around 36 units.

b. The shelves will be placed against a wall side by side with 13 units on one side and 13 on the other side. The remainder will be placed in combinations of 3. We are accommodating an HVAC unit and a sliding door in the space. The building is a warehouse with a concrete slab. We want to have sides on all units because we move around quite often.

7. Can you please extend bid due date until accurate information requested is provided in order to provide competitive quotes? Yes, the solicitation will be extended. Please see amendment 0001.
