STATEMENT OF WORK
1.0 BACKGROUND
The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) is a naval research activity operating under the direction of the Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command
(NAVSEA). We provide research, development, test and evaluation, engineering, analysis and assessment, as well as Fleet support capabilities for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive undersea weapon systems, and stewards existing and emerging technologies in support of undersea warfare.
2.0 SCOPE
The contractor shall conduct the five (5) day, forty (40) hour course entitled “Application and Interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing” (Prerequisite). The contractor shall conduct the five (5) day forty (40) hour course entitled “Review and
Application of Extended Principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing”. Courses need to be completed by 25 May 2018. The contractor shall provide an off-site location within ten miles of NUWCDIVNPT equipped to facilitate the training and provide any computer equipment, software, and course manual necessary to teach the courses. A training certificate for each individual shall be handed out on the last day of class, or emailed to NUWCDIVNPT’s Technical Point of Contact via email upon class completion.
3.0 REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Instruct Course “Application and Interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing” (Prerequisite)
The contractor shall conduct the five (5) day course entitled “Application and
Interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.” The contractor shall provide all required course materials (i.e. laptop, course manual, pen, notepad, and course file
DVD/USB) for a maximum of twenty (20) attendees. The typical audience for this workshop consists of design engineers, process engineers, planners, machine programmers, tool and gage designers, toolmakers, machinist quality engineers, managers and project leads.
The course objective is to teach a uniform method of specifying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on design drawings and to provide a common interpretation of GD&T to drawing users. The class should explore design requirements and tolerances that allow economical manufacturing and inspection methods. Students learn that creating production drawings is a team effort between design, drafting, manufacturing and quality control. The course should cover at a minimum:
Knowledge of GD&T to interpret and generate drawings American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y:14.5

3.2 Instruct “Review and Application of Extended Principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing”
The contractor shall conduct the five (5) day course titled “Review and Application of Extended Principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.” The contractor shall provide all required course materials for a maximum of twenty (20) attendees.
This course is intended for design and manufacturing personnel who require use of extended principles of GD&T to communicate design intent for more complex parts and assemblies.
This course should cover at a minimum:
Material Condition Modifiers Profile control Graphical Inspection Analysis (Paper Gaging) Functional Gaging Tolerance zone shapes (Fundamental and Derived zones) Tolerance distribution techniques (Fixed, Floating and Double Fixed Fasteners) Composite Position/Profile Control ASME Standards ASME/International Organization of Standardization (ISO) Differences Review of ASME Y14.41-2003 Standard
