The purpose of this amendment is to address industry questions.

Question 1: Is there any other information regarding the specifications for the optical fiber or is p. 23 Section J - List of Documents, Exhibits and Other Attachments everything?

Answer 1: No, what is provided in section J represents the Government’s minimum requirement.

Question 2: For macrobend performance, what is the tightest radii specified? Does it need to be 10mm (G.657.A.1), 7.5mm (G.657.A.2 for G.652 compliant and G.657.B.2 for G.652 not required) or 5 mm (G.657.B.3, only for G.652 not required.). You can specify either the desired macrobend performance or the ITU specification, which we have provided parenthetically.

Answer 2: The desired bend performance does not conform to, but exceeds the ITU specifications. The desired bend loss is less than or equal to 0.015 dB/km when wound continually at a 6 mm radius. (Note: This is different from ITU specifications which specify a small number or wraps and the associated bend-induced loss.)

Question 3: For the outer Jacket Type A and Type B, you have specified the DuPont trademark Hytrel for the minimum and optical requirements in Section J. Are you requiring Hytrel or can any Thermoplastic Polyester Elastomer Resin be used as long as it is noted in the response?

Answer 3: Hytrel was chosen for its widespread usage and success as a fiber coating. Offers for other than Hytrel Polymer will need to be accompanied by documentation ensuring it is equivalent in fit and function to Hytrel.

Question 4: Can you provide the desired fiber count for the cable? " No fiber count was identified".

Answer 4: The Government is not buying a multi-fiber cable. We are buying lengths of coated fiber.

Question 5: The government is requesting a 50 micron cladding, but zero requirements on the core, other than a statement below the "section J" chart stating single mode fiber which is 8.3 micron.

Answer 5: The Governments minimum requirement is a numerical aperture of greater than .21. There is no minimum or maximum requirement for mode field diameter.

Question 6: Is the continous fiber for indoor or outdoor purposes?

N66604-15-R-1522

Answer 6: There is no minimum requirement related to indoor or outdoor use so it is irrelevant.

Question 7: Is the requirement for OM2, OM3 or OM4 fiber?

Answer 7: OMx designations are for multi-mode optical fiber. This requirement is for singlemode optical fiber.

Therefore, it is neither.

All other terms and conditions of this solicitation remain unchanged.
