SUMMARY OF CHANGES

SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE

The following have been modified:

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Additional Questions:

1. Based on the reply to the questions we asked, we priced this with the understanding we would receive 2 sets (132 pieces) with the goal of returning 1 repaired set (66 pieces), if this is not achievable, KTR assumes that the Navy would supply additional service run parts to complete the task and modify the pricing as required.

Answer: That is a correct assumption.

2. Can we get information on what base material the blade is, their dimensions also, a part number if possible.

We are trying to figure out the adequate size, so we know what the PtAl cost will be. We thought there were 102 blades per set, like the Rolls Royce flight version T56 engine (which we specialize in), so we are puzzled with the 66 blades per set.

Answer: Likely part numbers would be 23032701, 23074634, 23074945, 23075070.

Approximate box dimensions are 1.25x2.375x 0.6875 airfoil is approximately 1.25 in tall with a 1.0 inch cord

Questions:

1. Section 1.1

We understand that there is in an interest in repair processes for the 501-K34 blades but the scope of work is clear that this proposal is for strip and recoat only. Section 3.1.3 provides opportunities to highlight other repair opportunities but the development of these is not included in this proposal. Please confirm.

Answer: That is correct. That line is included as research for future repair opportunities.

2. Section 3.0

Coating requirements in Section 3.3 are specific for Pt-Al coating only. The blades that we reviewed had a thermal spray coating on the tips in addition to the airfoil coating. Please confirm that we should include this tip coating as part of the process.

Answer: Yes

3. Our assumption is that these blades are of the vintage that do not have internal coating. Is your expectation that our response will include external coating only? Are you able to share the configuration of the USN 501‐K34 parts?

N6449822Q5060

Answer: The expectation was for external coating only.

4. Is the expectation that the strip and recoat repair includes shot peening of the roots?

Answer: That is entierely up to their expertise.

5. Is it appropriate to expect a maximum 2 engine sets of Stage 1 Blades for incoming inspection?

We understand there to be 70 Stage 1 blades per set. Please confirm.

Answer: There are 66 blades per set. I would say a maximum of 2 sets would be reasonable.

6. Section 9.0

Vendor does not have OEM repair manuals for these components and cannot comply with this. We can proceed with vendor current repair limits and methods. Is this acceptable?

Answer: I am agreeable to this pending our review of those limits and methods.
