Questions and Answers 4k Torque Bench N6426724R0226

Q1:

“Will this system be automated or manual?”

A1:

All we are looking for is a manual COTS option. Depending on the company and proof of concept if the technology is already there, there may be opportunities to investigate automated, but it is not a requirement.

Q2:

“We see (once in all the documents) in the RFP+4K+Torque+Bench+Redacted PDF (on page 2) the request for --

BRAND NAME/SOLE SOURCE: BN

MFR PART NR: SNA TTC2800SYS

PSC CD: 6635

This Snap On system does not meet the minimum requirements (as one example) for 4,000 ft lb. capacity as it only will achieve 2,000 ft lb. Upon review, an AKO system can meet all of the requirements and we are working under the assumption this is not the actual/only source for this Force & Torque Calibration system.”

A2:

This is not a Sole Source or Brand Name. This is a full and open competitive procurement. We are looking for as many vendors that have a legitimate system to offer that meets our minimum requirements outlined in the CSS. The Part Number in the contract package (IGCE) was only for estimation purposes and not meant to be a sole source.

Q3:

How are the torque tools to be applied to the test bench? Will this be done manually or is this to somehow to be automated?

A3:

Must be at least manual.

Q4:

Per the Calibration Standard Specification: “The Calibration Bench shall have a test system kit in order to test compression and tension gages from 10 lbf to 500 lbf.” – Is this to be motorized or manual operation?

A4:

Must be at least manual.

Q5:

Per the Calibration Standard Specification: “The Calibration Bench shall have a test system kit in order to test cable tensiometers from 20 lbf to 2000 lbf.” - Is this to be motorized or manual operation?

A5:

Must be at least manual.

Q6:

Will this calibrator be used in other places other than a naval ship?

A6:

Shore-based labs.

Q7:

Per the Calibration Standard Specification: 2.7 Digital Display – Do you require the ability to output or store test data? Do you need to record and/or produce calibration curves? Pass/Fail? Etc.

A7:

The display must, at the very least, output the test data

Q8:

Is there any specification for the overall physical size and weight of this test bed?

A8:

The nominal maximum dimensions for the shore-based labs are 60”L x 30”D x 74”H.
