PURCHASE DESCRIPTION DRAFT

1. INTRODUCTION

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) Program has a requirement to procure a Primary Vibration Calibration System (PVCS).

2. BACKGROUND

The accelerometer calibration system in the NAVAIR METCAL inventory is used to verify the correct operation of test instruments such as, but not limited to ICP (Integrated Circuit Piezoelectric), charge and voltage accelerometers. This system is to be used at the Navy Primary Standards Laboratory (NPSL) to calibrate intermediate level calibration laboratories afloat and ashore, as well as the depot level calibration laboratories. NAVAIR METCAL requires an accelerometer calibration system. The Measurement Science Department of Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Corona has identified the M/N 9155D as the only accelerometer calibration system that can accommodate work load for the fleet inventory. In addition, the M/N 9155D meets the requirements of recent and anticipated TI workload being added to the NAVAIR inventory.
