Section C - Descriptions and Specifications

STATEMENT OF WORK

1.0 INTRODUCTION

The Naval Surface Warfare Center Corona Division (Corona Division), Measurement Science and Engineering

Department has a requirement to procure Automated Deadweight Piston Gauges (ADPG) through an Indefinite

Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Contract. The ADPGs used are to verify the accuracy and precision of test instruments such as pressure gauges, pressure transducers, automated pressure calibrators, portable hydraulic test stands, and pressure decay test sets at Depot Level Naval Calibration Labs. This type of calibration equipment supports fleet readiness by verifying the accuracy of calibration equipment used afloat in intermediate level calibration labs in the fleet.

2.0 BACKGROUND

The workload for Deadweight Piston Gauges (DPGs) has continued to increase over the last twenty years. With the ability to achieve reliable and repeatable measurements using the Automated Deadweight Piston Gauges, Naval Sea

Systems Command (NAVSEA) will eliminate human error when verifying the operation of test instruments by using an automated system to reduce risk. At a minimum 45% of the current model, numbers of DPGs in the NAVSEA

Metrology Calibration (METCAL) program’s inventory are no longer working due to the inability to replace broken components since obsolete parts are not available by industry for the support of legacy commercial products. The vast majority, 90%, of the legacy DPGs in the NAVSEA METCAL inventory are model numbers from the Ruska, now doing business as Fluke Electronics Inc. 2400 series of DPG model numbers (M/Ns). The following model numbers from the legacy 2400 series, 2485, 2451 and 2400-625-002 have been the primary calibration standards for measurement of pressure above 10,000 psi in the NAVSEA METCAL depot level calibration labs for over thirty years.

3.0 SCOPE

NAVSEA METCAL Program has a requirement for up to a maximum of nine (9) ADPG systems, P/N STE-

PG7000-30K/AN, and associated training.
