1.0 SCOPE

1.1 General: This calibration standard specification (CSS) defines the minimum mechanical and electrical requirements regarding a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) system. The primary functionality and responsibility of the equipment is to calibrate passive RF and microwave components such as attenuators, directional couplers, filters, power splitters/dividers, and terminations. The VNA will have the capability to measure forward and reverse transmission/reflection (magnitude and phase) response of a device under test with the range and accuracy requirements provided in this purchase description. The Vector Network Analyzer requires a calibration kit for measurement calibration and test port cables to connect to the device under test. All three components comprise a Vector Network Analyzer system and impact associated measurement capabilities and uncertainties. Stated specification requirements apply to either discrete VNA performance or VNA system level requirements, as explicitly referenced. The VNA system will be used by Navy personnel in shipboard and shore-based laboratories.

1.2 Usage: Test equipment discussed in this purchase description is intended for use in operational conditions within a controlled environment where military equipment is operated. While in transportation or storage, the test equipment may be subjected to conditions aboard military and commercial vehicles on land, sea, and air.
