2.0 BACKGROUND
The MK41 Launcher is fitted to ships in modules. MK41 VLS is a modular Launcher concept which can accommodate different "canisters" in various modules. In order to install the launchers a drill fixture is needed during the install process. The Launcher Program has a requirement for an additional drill fixture for installation of the VLS Modules.
In order to meet this requirement, NWSC Corona Division requires the Manufacturer to meet or exceed the requirements for the drill and Installation fixture listed in the attached technical drawings, specifications and revision documents, including Module Assembly Install and Drill Fixture Drawing 5497609-9, as well as the Module Assembly Install and Drill Fixture Weldment Drawing 5597854. The fixture is used by government personnel, government contracted personnel and is intended for use during the installation of a module to drill holes in order to secure the module in place.
· NSWC Corona government personnel will perform periodic inspections at the contractor’s facilities during manufacture of the drill fixture.
· Final Inspection and Acceptance to be performed at NSWC Corona prior to payment. NSWC Corona at their discretion may allow Final Inspection and Acceptance using qualified and certified vendor inspection equipment/facilities in lieu of Final Inspection and Acceptance at NSWC Corona.
· If the delivered drill and installation fixture does not meet the drawing specifications, it will be returned to the vendor for repair at no additional cost to the government.
· Any deviations from the drawing must be submitted and approved as coordinated thru NSWC Corona government MS-22 personnel before manufacturing of the drill and installation fixture and acceptance/final acceptance is contingent upon inspection and approval of any Request for Variation (RFV) and final acceptance
