GENERAL
SALES TAX EXEMPTION
The contractor is hereby advised that the United States Government and Agencies thereof are exempt from State and Local Government tax by virtue of Article 6 of the United States Constitution. No exemption certificate is required.
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This NAVAIR Metrology/ Calibration (METCAL) purchase requisition is a name brand acquisition of a Resistance Calibration System and Current Shunt manufactured by Guildline Instruments Limited., Smiths Falls, ON, CA K7A 4S9 (Cage 35939). NAVAIR has a requirement for a quantity of one (1) resistance calibration system, model number 6625AN-HV/S32/R9/X300B/LPT/IEEE/SR1010/66252 and a quantity of one (1) DC current shunt, model number 9211B. It should be noted that the routine NAVAIR METCAL nomenclature for calibration hardware used to verify the operation of test instruments (TI) is the term “Standard”.
2.0 BACKGROUND
The 6625AN system will be used to calibrate resistance standards in the range of 0.1 ohms to 1 Giga-ohm, resistance transfer standards, multi-meter calibrators, DC current shunts, and digital multi-meters in the NAVAIR Calibration equipment inventory with improved accuracy and reduced operator time to perform the calibration procedures. The requested model 9211B, DC current shunt has nine setting range from 10 micro-amps to 300 amps. The current shunt will be used to calibrate current sources, panel meter calibrators, power supplies, and other assorted equipment found in the Navy/ Marine Corps inventory that requires a precision DC current shunt. The workloads for these Standards have increased over the last fifteen years. These Standards are used at intermediate level calibration laboratories afloat and ashore, as well as the depot level calibration laboratories. NAVAIR METCAL requires a resistance standard and a DC current shunt to operate at the discrete test frequencies indicated in the specification section of this document. It is unlikely that the model being sought in this procurement would become obsolete in less than ten (10) years at the earliest.
