Part 3 SOW
Section 1, Section 2, Section 5 We are concerned that this project may involve more than a contractor to just supply an STC 55 rated door—the envelope around the door needs to be prepared properly – CMU needs to be infilled—and the structure must be able to support a substantially heavier door and thicker door than the current door in order to meet the STC 50 rating they are trying to obtain.
We/contractors may need to re-inspect and take additional measurements to confirm current conditions. Also, there may be some difficulty in finding vendors that could meet both the STC rating and the RF rating, although we think we possibly found one but that was really about it. Very difficult to find the project right now.
To the Government’s knowledge, the CMU walls are core filled and should be able to support the new frames and doors.
The Government agrees that it would be in the best interest of the contractors to do their own investigative inspection to confirm the above statement to be true.
Through the Government’s research, the RF material used in the door is stated to be 5LBS per SF. So, a 3’ X 7’ door would add approximately 105LBS of weight.
Furthermore, the material used to meet STC rating is 10LBS per SF. So, a 3’ X 7” door would weigh approximately 210.
The combined weight of these materials would equal approximately 315 LBS, not counting the frame or hardware.

Section 2.1, Section 4
Other concerns are that We can’t guarantee that installing a lab tested (controlled conditions) STC 55 rated door and frame will necessarily translate to a field tested (non-controlled conditions) rating of STC 55. Contractor may have to do significant wall/infrastructure/shell renovations because of unforeseen unknowable conditions at the openings that could contribute to the STC 55 rating not being met.
The Government understands. The Government is ordering a STC55 rated door in order to meet at least a STC 50 rating. The Government acknowledges that when you make any type of penetrations to the door, that it loses a percentage of sound transmission class. The Government understands it will not be possible to acquire a STC 55 rating. If it meets a STC 50 rating or above, we are within an acceptable range.

Was there a reason this was postponed after the due date time?
The Government was notified of possible concerns in the installation of the Security Doors. As a result, the Government determined that it was in the best interest to extend the quote due date in order to investigate the concerns and allow for an additional site visit. The Government extended the quote due date prior to the quote due date time on 11/16/2022; however, a slight system delay caused the amendment to be posted to SAM.gov shortly after 1000 on 11/16/2022.
