About this file
This document is a Statement of Requirements for the provision of prescription safety glasses to personnel assigned to the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair USN Newport News (SUPSHIPNN) located within the Huntington Ingalls Incorporated Newport News Shipyard. The contractor shall provide prescription safety glasses that meet or exceed the ANSI Z87 OSHA standard, including single vision, bifocal, trifocal, and progressive lenses. The glasses must have a minimum 3.0-millimeter polycarbonate lens and wrap-around coverage or permanently attached sideshields. The government will provide the prescriptions, and the contractor must be located within 25 miles of the Newport News Shipyard. Each government employee requiring glasses will be issued a Safety Glasses Authorization Letter, and the contractor shall not exceed 14 calendar days upon receipt of the prescription to delivery of the glasses. The government shall only pay for the glasses ordered and delivered, and payment will be made via government purchase card upon acceptance of the glasses.
The related federal contract opportunity is a Pre-Solicitation notice for the same requirement, seeking to identify contractors who possess the capabilities to provide the specified safety glasses. The government intends to award a purchase order and is conducting market research to determine the availability, capability, and adequacy of potential offerors. The government is interested in offering this requirement to a small business and is requesting specific information from interested parties, including company profile, small business status, and qualifications to perform the work. Responses are due by May 17, 2024, and will assist the government in developing its acquisition strategy for a possible future Request for Quote (RFQ) or Request for Proposal (RFP).
