The car and driver will be required one day prior to starting maintenance through one day after completion. The vehicle shall be clean, in good condition, and have working air conditioning.

6. Tasks to be performed:

a. (One time per each fender set) Remove two waterborne GFE fenders with counterweights. Remove the top cover plate from the fender, install the air hose, disconnect mooring chains, and attach mooring rope/line to secure the fender during handling. Attach the crane to the hanging chain (35-ton shackle already in place), lift the counterweight until the fender is on its side with the top just clear of the water. When directed by the USN Rep, divers in the boat open the air valve fully, verify air is going into the fender, keeping the face clear of discharge ports, divers fully open the water valve, clear away from the fender, and have the crane lift until the top of the fender is underwater and no air is observed discharging from the top of the fender (USN Rep to Provide oversight and guidance). Lift the counterweight keeping only water discharging from the top of the fender for 1.5 hours. Lower the counterweight to bring the top of the fender out of the water, divers will move in with a boat and shut the air and water valves. Adjust the crane until the fender is on its side and the chain connecting the counterweight to the fender bottom is slack. Divers move in and detach the counterweight from the bottom of the fender and have the crane lift the weight to the pier for cleaning. Reattach the crane to the bottom of the fender, have divers open the air and water valves, lift the bottom of the fender, tipping until the top is underwater and discharging only water, maintain 6 to 7 tons lift on the crane until all water is removed, lift the fender out of the water. Place on the pier for cleaning. The USN Representative will be onsite to provide guidance and oversight of all removal, cleaning, etc.

b. (One time per each fender set) Utilizing the crane and divers, divers will remove the shackle connecting the hanging chain to the main shackle on the installed fender counterweight and replace this chain and all shackles. The contractor will dispose of all degraded chains and shackles.

c. (One time per each fender set) Reinstall the 4.5 x 9m Trelleborg fenders that were cleaned to 25 – 30 kPA. After attaching contractor provided tag lines to the top and bottom of the 4.5m Fender to be installed, use the crane and appropriate slings to lift the fender (5.1 Tons Empty Weight) and place it in the water on its side. Secure the fender alongside the pier with tag lines, remove the crane lifting slings from the fender, and have divers in the boat attach air and water hoses as directed by the USN Representative. Start ballast water and verify the flow into the fender. Using the crane, lift the GFE 12.2-ton counterweight and attach it to the bottom of the 4.5 x 9.0m fender body, ballast as directed by the USN Representative. When ballasting is complete, secure air and water valves on top of the fender, disconnect hoses, check for leaks as directed by the USN Representative, secure the Counterweight hanging chain and mooring chains to the top of the fender as directed by the USN Representative, flush the top cavity of the fender with fresh water to remove any residual saltwater residue, remove excess water, and secure the fender top cover plate as directed by the USN Representative.

d. (For Chinhae/Jinhae) Remove existing fenders; clean, deflate, and package for destruction/recycling. Perform destruction/recycling per an on-site subject matter expert and supervisor. Destruction entails cutting out the fender serial number through the fender wall and taking pictures of the fender and serial number for documentation.

7. General Info:

a. Fender Dimensions: 4.5 meters in diameter and 9.0 meters in length (the empty fender weighs approximately 6 tons empty). Each counterweight is 12 tons.
