Statement of Requirements
WRDS Database Subscription Dudley Knox Library (DKL)
Naval Postgraduate School
1.0 Background/Introduction:
DKL maintains a curated portfolio of information products from a variety of credible and proprietary sources that support teaching, learning, and research needs of NPS students and faculty. Selection is based on relevance to curricula and research interest, the quality of content, and some technical delivery preferences. Faculty and students in GSBPP programs need access to well-maintained, cross-disciplinary current and historical data sets in Finance, Marketing, and Economics for instruction and research. The MBA program in particular needs to ensure access to the same data sources comparable peer institutions use in order to stay both credible and competitive. Flexible delivery options for data enable each student or researcher to choose the delivery method best suited for their project. POP Base: 09/25/2019 through 09/24/2020, Base and two options 09/25/2020- 09/24/2022
2.0 Minimal Technical Requirements/Salient Characteristics:
The WRDS database subscription is sought because it provides access to high quality financial, marketing, and economic data crucial in the support of research and instruction efforts in the NPS MBA program especially.
The following technical requirements are in place:
• Curated data sets in Finance, Marketing, and Economics, to include historical data, from sources such as S&P, Thomson Reuters IBES, Dow Jones, FDIC, New York Stock Exchange, and more
• Ability to host additional, compatible data sets from Audit Analytics and Compustat on the same platform/via same delivery methods
• Flexible data access/delivery methods (web query and specialized applications such as Matlab, SAS, or R)
• Provider of data needs to be recognized industry-wide as the gold standard in data management and research to provide credibility to NPS education and research programs
