Statement of Work For Small Arms Marksmanship Trainer Update

1.0 SCOPE

This Statement of Work (SOW) provides the following for Naval Service Training Command (NSTC) / Recruit Training Command (RTC) and other government agencies to order, and deliver Small Arms Marksmanship Trainer (SAM-T) Air Recoil System (ARS) kits, Maintenance Training, Warranty coverage and various Spare Parts like lasers, laser batteries, etc This system provides training capabilities supporting M9 familiarization at the U.S. Navy RTC Great Lakes, Illinois.

2.0 BACKGROUND

The SAM-T is a customized, slightly modified commercial off the shelf (COTS) system providing RTC with a viable trainer capable of supporting small arms familiarization training at the accessions level without the risks, costs and man-power requirements associated with the live-fire of small arms. In 2006 SAMT was moved to its current, dedicated physical location. The simulated pistols, configured as current-issue military M9 pistols, were refurbished at that time. Eleven years later, in 2017, the technology support and market availability of the laser hit-indicating devices used with the system have dwindled. All known spares for the current product have been purchased for eventual service.
