Q1 6916017-1, sheet 2 of 5, Zone E2: Tapped hole shown but there is no call out for same on the drawing.

A1 This is the c-bore and tapped hole detailed on sheet 2 zone C5

Q2 6916017-3 sheet 4 of 5, Zone E3: Tapped holes shown but there is no call out for same on the drawing, Call out states Match drill with find #3 but this part is find #3 ,so how can we match drill it to itself?

A2 It’s not a tapped hole, but rather a C-bore hole (flat bottom). It should be match drilled using find #2. It is understood that the hole may not be in line with the clevis slot, but should perpendicular to the threat axis. This feature allows the setscrew (find #12) to lock the pin (find #2) in place so the bearing cavity can be filed with grease.

Q3 Assembly drawing 691607 -Rev-B, sheet 1of 5. Bearings. Is there any requirement for pre-load on the 3 bearings?

A3 Not according to the drawing. Using best shop practices, tighten nut to remove slop from bearings, ensure swivel can still be manipulated by hand.

Q3A Technically, there will always be slop[clearances] in this type of multiple bearings set -up, the only way to completely eliminate this is to" preload " the bearings via a wave washer or equal.

Torqueing the Nut will not remove all slop!!!

We will utilize our best shop practices and torque the Nut and ensure Swivel can be manipulated by hand but a certain amount of slop [clearance] will still be evident!

With the use of equipment, over time, this slop [ clearance] will migrate to its original value and may negatively affect the function of the assembly.

A3A These concerns are understood; best shop practices are fine.

Q4 Note 5 Magnetic test after assembly. Since Swivel MK-9 has three Steel bearings assembled to it, Note 5 is negated due to the mass effective of the steel bearings on unit. Please clarify this requirement.

A4 Perform test including area around the bearings. If area around bearings indicates over 2.0 magnetic permeability, note area and continue. Item will not be rejected if built according to drawing.

Q5 Tolerances not specified on the drawings? For two place decimal, we shall use+ /- .010"?

A5 Two place decimals use + /- .020 One place decimals use + /- .05

Q6 General surface finish not specified on the drawings.

A6 Use 63 RMS unless otherwise noted.

Q7 Passivate QQ-P-35 TYPE I and I Passivation of Stainless Steel to QQ-P-35 Four active nitric acid passivation services are covered as follows: (four inactive methods have been withdrawn): Type I - Withdrawn

Type II - 20-25 v% Nitric, 2-2.5 w% Sodium Dichromate, 120-130F, 20 Mins minimum. Type III - Withdrawn Type IV - Withdrawn Type V - Withdrawn Type VI - 25-45 v% Nitric, 70-90F, 30 Mins minimum Type VII - 20-25 v% Nitric, 120-150F, 20 Mins minimum Type VIII - 45-55 v% Nitric, 120-130F, 30 Mins minimum Therefore we can only use Type II since Type I has been withdrawn. Four testing methods to validate passivation services are provided as follows:

4.4.1.1 - Water Immersion Test 4.4.1.2 - High Humidity Test 4.4.2.1 - Salt Spray Test 4.4.2.2 Copper Sulfate Test. Which test procedure do you require?

A7 Substitute Type II passivation for Type I.

No testing per section 4.4 required.

Q8 Note 3 states: Standard thread form to be truncated to dimensions shown. Does this truncation encompass the pipe threads and set screw threads?

A8 Yes. However, this note mainly applies to the large diameter threads on 691607-1 and 691607-2. See Q9 for additional information

Q9.

Threads are normally of the truncated form, with crests truncated to certain dimensional limits. There is an exception to this for internal threads, where they are likely to be assembled with external thread. Please furnish exact details[ size, etc.] for the truncated threads, since there can be a technical variation to truncation depending on size and type of thread.

A9

This dimension might, depending on tolerances, truncates the 1.1875-8UN-2A thread. (this is a detail of 6916017-1)

This dimension might, depending on tolerances, truncates the 2.625-8UN-2B thread. (this is a detail of 6916017-2)

Q10 Note 6 States: To proof test assembly to 20,000 lbs. A proof test is a form of a Non Destructive Stress Test to demonstrate the fitness of a load-bearing equipment. Please provide what type of proof test required, duration of test and specifications for same.

A10 Load test assembled swivel to 20,000 lbs, +5%/ -0% for a minimum of 2 minutes. Swivel shall be inspected after test to ensure proper operation and no permanent deformation. Load test shall be conducted by a certified load test facility. Facility shall provide a certificate of load (proof) test, to be included with swivel.

Q10A The question was and still is what "type of proof test is required"?

Is the required test:

· Tensile, Torque or Compression test?

· Static or Kinematic test [Rotational]?

· Is the assembled equipment tested in Horizontal or Vertical position?

· Where are the loading points located?

· Is the testing conducted at ambient conditions?

· What specific facet of the equipment is the test being applied to?

· Does the unit get stamped/engraved with the test date, etc.

A10A A static tensile test is required, horizontal or vertical is fine, apply test load to the Pin (6916017-4). Test should be conducted at ambient conditions, no additional marking (stamping or engraving) is necessary. However, item should be linked to the load test certification. Marking a serial number with a permanent marker, or using a serialized zip tie can provide this pedigree until recipe by final owner.
