About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) addendum for Solicitation Number N4215825Q0051 for the rental of air compressors at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. The Q&A addresses three specific technical clarifications: (1) confirmation that the 3-phase 460v power for air compressors will use a Wye connection, (2) clarification that receiver tanks are not required for this contract, and (3) reaffirmation that the Navy requires 6' cam lok electrical cords with 500 mcm male connectors, despite a vendor suggestion to use alternative cable connections. The document provides direct responses to vendor inquiries, maintaining the specific technical requirements for the air compressor rental.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS 0002
1) Is the 3-phase 460v power for the air compressors at the Naval Station Norfolk wye or delta configuration?
Wye Connection
2) Section B Item 003 references receiver tanks, but there are no specifications listed in section C heading 10 for receiver tanks. Are receiver tanks part of this bid and if so can specification please be provided?
Receiver tanks are not required.
3) Section C heading 10 has 6’ cam lok electrical cords with 500 mcm male connectors listed. Most rental compressors are set up around industry standard 4/0 cables. Adapters from 4/0 to 500 mcm aren’t always perfect fit and 500 mcm connectors in past to Navy have come back with cuts to ends making them not water tight. Would the Navy consider connecting directly to lugs of compressors with 500 mcm cable with eye bolt lugs to have a safer installation that is water tight due to use of continuous cable from power supply to the compressor?
We would not consider connecting directly to the lugs, we require the 6’ cam lok electrical cords with 500 mcm male connectors.
