About this file

This document contains a vehicle assessment checklist and details of a related federal contract opportunity for transportation services. The vehicle assessment checklist outlines 22 items that must be assessed for vehicles transporting radioactive materials, including verifying the vehicle type is suitable for the cargo, inspecting tires, wheels, lights, and ensuring required documentation and equipment are in the vehicle.

The related federal contract opportunity is a pre-solicitation notice from the Department of the Navy for transportation of radioactively contaminated material and equipment shipments from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard to the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. The opportunity describes radioactive contaminated equipment stored in metal or wood shipping containers requiring transport. The required transportation services ensure the shipyard's ability to ship radioactive materials and support its mission capabilities.
