About this file

This document contains a request for information (RFI) response related to a solicitation for repairs to Substation 7 at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The RFI response provides clarification on a specification calling for 3 feet 8 inches of mitigating soil consisting of 75% gypsum, 20% bentonite, and 5% sodium sulfate. The engineer who designed the detail did not specify a source for the bulk mitigating soil materials, as only bagged mix is commonly available locally. The Navy is requesting advice on securing a bulk material source to meet this specification for the repairs to electrical components and minor building repairs at Substation 7 identified in solicitation number N4008520B2556 issued by the Department of the Navy Naval Facilities Engineering Command.
