About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) defining maintenance and support requirements for a Quanta 650 Electron Microscope (Serial Number 9923437) located at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine.
The contractor must provide annual comprehensive inspections, scheduled preventative maintenance, calibration services, and unscheduled corrective repairs. All work must be performed by OEM-certified field service engineers with documented technical training specific to the Quanta 650 platform, and the contractor must be an OEM authorized service technician. Inspection services include verification of column vacuum system integrity, evaluation of the Schottky Field Emission Gun source, inspection of imaging and analytical detectors (ETD, BSE, LFD), structural and mechanical inspections of motorized stage mechanisms, and verification of secondary support equipment including water chillers, compressed air regulators, and nitrogen purge lines. Scheduled preventative maintenance encompasses electron column servicing (cleaning liner tube, replacing final apertures, anode cleaning, gun chamber bake-out), vacuum system servicing (pump maintenance, turbomolecular pump performance checks, ion getter pump regeneration), specimen chamber maintenance (internal cleaning, stage track lubrication, O-ring replacement), chiller maintenance (water system flushing, filter replacement, coolant replenishment), and software diagnostics. Following any maintenance or repair action, the contractor must calibrate magnification per ASTM E766 standards using ISO 17025 certified standards and verify resolution and image quality using gold-on-carbon reference samples. The contractor shall submit three deliverables: a Service and Inspection Report (CDRL A001), a Calibration Certificate (CDRL A002), and a Condition Found Report (CDRL A003) for any identified repairs requiring contracting officer authorization before commencement. All work must comply with federal, state, and PNSY safety and environmental regulations, use only new OEM-approved parts and materials, and meet OSHA standards for occupational safety and radiation safety. Personnel access to the shipyard requires U.S. citizenship verification, background vetting through Pass and ID office, submission of visit requests containing full names, nationalities, birth dates, and Social Security Numbers, and issuance of Standard Access Control Badges (green badges) providing unescorted access to the Controlled Industrial Area excluding Nuclear Work Areas and other sensitive areas. Camera-enabled devices and personal vehicles are prohibited in the Controlled Industrial Area; contractor vehicles must be company-owned or leased, properly registered, display contractor logos with minimum 2-inch lettering, and possess valid safety inspections and Commercial Vehicle Inspections Station passes.
