PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT

PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT

Vibration, Lateral Rotor Dynamics and Magnetic Bearing Training

FY 20 ONSITE TRAINING FOR ACTIVE MAGNETIC BEARING TRAINING FOR ENGINEERS

BACKGROUND:

Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard (PNSY) requires training services to enhance understanding of active magnetic bearings (AMB), vibration, and lateral rotor dynamics. The training is required based on current and increasing workload in the field of active magnetic bearing servicing. The field of AMB’s presents a complex coupled field of engineering disciplines with distinct nuances thus requiring training to be derived from experienced subject matter experts; this drastically reduces the viability of many typical rotor dynamic/vibration analysis trainings. 10 engineering personnel are to be the recipients of this training.

REFERENCES:

ISBN 978-3-642-00496-4: Magnetic Bearings: Theory, Design, and Application to Rotating

Machinery ISO 14839 Mechanical Vibration - Vibration

SCOPE:

PNSY expects a training to be delivered to provide information on particular subjects unique to

AMB’s. The specific subjects to be covered are described in the tasks section below.

OBJECTIVES:

The goal of this contract is to provide information on particular subjects unique to AMB’s to PNSY engineering personnel. 10 Personnel are to receive this training. The training received will improve engineering’s ability to perform work related to systems/components utilizing active magnetic bearings.
