About this file
This document is a justification and approval for other than full and open competition for a federal contract award. The Naval Medical Research Command intends to award a sole source contract to Thermo Scientific/Life Technologies Corp. to supply testing supplies necessary for processing approximately 6,000 COVID-19 diagnostic samples. The testing supplies included are MagMAX Nucleic Acid Isolation kits, COVID-19 Combo Kits, and TaqPath 1-Step Multiplex Master Mix. Delivery of the supplies will occur in monthly increments starting in April 2024, with the contract utilizing fiscal year 2024 Navy Operation and Maintenance funds. The justification for the sole source award is that these specific testing supplies from Thermo Scientific are required to produce diagnostic-grade test results, as confirmed by an attached sole source letter.
