1. SCOPE:

1.2 Location of Work:

1.2.1 Auxiliary Machine Room (AMR)

1.3 Identification:

1.3.1 Quantity: (2 EA) Carbon Dioxide Removal Plant, Mark III-B units; Mfr:

2.2 S9515-AK-MMO-020 Rev 2, Carbon Dioxide Removal Plant Mark III-B Units Aboard 688 and 21 Class Submarines

2.3 Recommended Scrubber / Burner Repairs

3. REQUIREMENTS:

3.1 Accomplish the requirements of 009-90 of 2.1.

3.1.1 Provide the services of a qualified on-site representative to inspect, maintain and repair the equipment listed in 1.3, located in 1.2, in accordance with the requirements of 2.2 and using 2.3 and Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) proprietary drawings and specifications for guidance.

3.2 Accomplish the removal of existing, overhaul, and reinstallation of following components associated with the equipment listed in 1.3, in accordance with the requirements of 2.2 and using 2.3 for guidance.

- Pump and 3hp Motor Unit

- 5hp Motor and New Pulleys

- Boilers Both Units

- Control Panels

- Heater Box Both Units

3.3 Accomplish the removal of existing, and installation of new components associated with the equipment listed in 1.3, in accordance with the requirements of 2.2 and using 2.3 for guidance. The following components shall be replaced with new:

- Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs)

- Sound Mounts on Compressor Bed Plate

- Heat Exchangers Both Units

- Level Control Sensors / Cables Both Units

- Level Sight Glasses

- Broken Grounding Straps

- Absorber Packing

- CO2 Flow Meters

(Q)(G) "OPERATIONAL TEST"

3.4 Accomplish an operational test of the equipment listed in 1.3, located in 1.2 and in accordance with the requirements of 2.2.

3.4.1 Allowable system fluid leaks: None. All system fluid leaks resulting from the requirements of 3.1 through 3.3 shall be corrected by the contractor.

3.4.2 Submit one legible copy, in approved transferrable media, of a report certifying satisfactory work completion of this specification to the SUPERVISOR within 5 days of completion.

3.5 All reports with no time specific submission requirement, shall be submitted to the SUPERVISOR within 30 days of work completion.

3. REQUIREMENTS:

3.1 Accomplish the requirements of 009-90 of 2.1.

3.1.1 Provide the services of a qualified on-site representative to inspect, maintain and repair the equipment listed in 1.3, located in 1.2, in accordance with the requirements of 2.2 and using 2.3 and Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) proprietary drawings and specifications for guidance.

- Fan Motor / Balance Wheel on Unit No. One

- Remove No. 2 Motor for Preservation

3.3 Accomplish the removal of existing, and installation of new components associated with the equipment listed in 1.3, in accordance with the requirements of 2.2 and using 2.3 for guidance. The following components shall be replaced with new:

- Bypass Duct on Unit No.2

(Q)(G) "OPERATIONAL TEST"

3.4 Accomplish an operational test of the equipment listed in 1.3, located in 1.2 and in accordance with the requirements of 2.2.

3.4.1 Allowable system fluid leaks: None. All system fluid leaks resulting from the requirements of 3.1 through 3.3 shall be corrected by the contractor.
