7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:

7.1 The period of performance is from 9 to 21 August, 2015.

7.2 The location of work is Manama, Bahrain.

7.3 Provide the services of an OEM bearing representative to perform the following for the USNS Arctic Starboard Line Shaft Bearing open/inspect/replacement.

7.3.1 Provide oversight during the disassembly of the line shaft bearing shell.

7.3.2 Prior to disassembly, take and record bearing clearance.

7.3.3 Inspect oil disc and scraper; report any anomalies.

7.3.4 Once bearing is removed, perform visual inspection of lower bearing shell. Measure bearing thickness at a minimum of three locations.

7.3.5 Provide oversight for new bearing installation, this will include performing blue checks and adjustments to bearing lower shell to achieve acceptable contact.

7.3.6 Assemble old upper and lower shells and measure inside bore.

7.3.7 Perform oversight over wire hook ups for the primary and secondary resistive thermal elements.

7.3.8 Perform seal installations and record all applicable seal clearance measurements.

7.3.9 Perform pedestal base sump cleanliness inspection prior to closing sumps.

7.4 Provide daily briefings with the ship’s chief engineer during the accomplishment of work.

7.5 When work is completed, provide a draft report of all measurements and inspections performed to the ship’s chief engineer and principle port engineer.

7.6 Within 30 days of completing travel, submit final trip report to principle port engineer.

FOR STRAIN GAGE MEASUREMENTS:

7.1 The period of performance is from 8 to 21 August, 2015.

7.2 The location of work is Manama, Bahrain.

7.3 Travel to work location to perform initial cold load cell measurements on the morning of August 9, 2015.

7.4 Provide the equipment necessary to perform load cell analysis of the port and starboard line shafts.

7.5 Provide initial analysis of readings to the ship’s chief engineer and port engineer.

7.6 Findings of the initial surveys will be formally included in the final report.

7.7 At completion of starboard line shaft replacement, perform follow up strain gage measurement on starboard shaft. (Only one strain gage measurement is required on the port shaft. If findings require a bearing adjustment is necessary, the second set of readings on the port shaft shall be covered by a contract modification.

7.8 Perform analysis of readings from second measurement and provide findings to chief engineer and port engineer.

7.9 If bearing movement is required on the starboard shaft, that effort will be subject to a contract modification.

7.10 Provide daily briefings with the ship’s chief engineer during the accomplishment of work.

7.11 Within 30 days of completing travel, submit final trip report to principle port engineer.
