Description
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Center for Cancer Research (CCR) plans to procure on a sole source basis services related to preventative maintenance, emergency service, and upgrades for a government-owned Brilliance CT Big Bore System from Philips Healthcare, 22100 Bothell Everett Highway, P.O.
Box 3003, Bothell, Washington 98041-3003.
This acquisition will be processed in accordance with simplified acquisition procedures as stated in
FAR Part 13.106-1(b)(1) and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. The North American
Industry Classification System code is 811219 and the business size standard is $20.5 million.
Only one (1) award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm fixed price type contract.
It has been determined there are no opportunities to acquire green products or services for this procurement.
The Radiation Oncology Branch of the CCR treats cancer patients with radiation according to approved clinical protocols. In order to accurately determine the anatomical position of the target area relative to internal anatomy, the ROB uses a sophisticated Computed Tomography (CT) scanner.
This scanner, the Brilliance Big Bore, manufactured by Philips Medical Systems, has a large opening to accommodate radiation therapy patients in their exact treatment geometry, as well as an integrated external laser system for delineating the reference point necessary for accurate dose calculation and radiation treatment. This is a patient critical component of the ROB and a service contract is required in order to maintain the system at an optimum functioning level, incorporate essential updates and repair and/or replace defective components.
