Unique qualifications
Eckert & Ziegler is currently the sole manufacturer of the commercially available B-AR-2000-1 TLC Imaging Scanner. The imaging scanner was initially being provided by BioScan, but the vendor is no longer in business.
As part of the MIP’s pre-clinical research, the MIP has a new staff scientist and his radiochemistry lab. The MIP is requesting to purchase a Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) Imaging Scanner to be used to analyze radiolabeled compounds. The acquisition of the scanner will increase productivity because the lab currently does not have an imaging scanner for TLC. The current method is to cut the chromatography strip into 0.5-1cm widths and count each individual section on the gamma counter. Then reconstruct the chromatogram using the results and calculating purity and yield manually. The requested scanner will have the ability to scan the entire strip at one time (in less than a minute) and instantly generate the chromatogram and calculate yield and purity automatically.
The MIP collaborates with the Imaging Probe Development Center (IPDC) on multiple projects. For continuity of research and results, IPDC uses the same requested system. The requested system will allow a seamless integration of systems and data with IPDC. Installing a new system will delay and disrupt planned work and produce data results that are inconsistent.
