About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for Solicitation N0060426Q4071 – Amendment 1. It addresses a single clarification regarding CLIN 0002, which specifies a Waterproof IP68 N Male to N Male Low Loss Cable, 400 Coax, 100ft/30m with the note that bulk raw cables are not assigned Ingress Protection ratings.
A vendor inquired whether the government would accept an LMR-400-DB cable with N male connectors mounted on each end, noting that bulk raw cables lack IP ratings. The government's response rejected this proposal, stating that the LMR-400 cable has 50 ohm impedance, which is incompatible with the requirement for 75 ohm impedance needed for SITE 300 antenna and cable connections. The government indicated that alternatives such as RG-11 or RG-6 cable with direct burial/waterproof jacket and N-type connectors would be acceptable. The response emphasizes that using a 50 ohm cable in a 75 ohm system would result in significant signal loss, reflection, and poor video performance.

Solicitation N0060426Q4071 – Amendment 1
Question(s) & Answer(s):
Question: I am requesting clarification on CLIN 0002 from the attached Combined Synopsis
Solicitation.
It states: Waterproof IP68 N Male to N Male Low Loss Cable, 400 Coax, 100ft/30m. Bulk Raw cables are not assigned Ingress Protection.
Will your customer accept the following cable?
100 FT LMR-400-DB, W/N MALE CONNECTORS MOUNTED ON EACH END.
Specs: LMR400 Direct Buriel cable.
Response: Thank you for asking; unfortunately, the cable proposed is the wrong impedance (50 ohm). SITE 300 antenna & cable connection requires a 75 ohm impedance.
Something like RG-11 or RG-6, with a direct burial/waterproof jacket and N-type connectors installed would be great.
A 50 Ohm cable in a 75 Ohm system will cause significant signal loss, reflection, and likely poor performance/ bad video
