Statement of Work
NAVAIR PATUXENT RIVER MD 4.3.4’s Propulsion Materials Ballistics Team
Purchase of Compact 1D High Speed Laser Doppler Velocimeter
LOCATION:
Materials Engineering Division
Room 101A Building 2188
NAWCAD

Item 1
1-D Miniaturized Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) 658 nm wavelength (Red) (Class IIIb)
Probe Size and Electronics should be appropriate to describe several inner stream regions within a stream of particles flowing in a 1.5875 mm diameter particle stream whose velocities range from 25 m/s to 600 m/s. Particle sizes, within the erosion stream, range from 10 microns or up to 500 microns must be measured for their 1D velocity. The LDV’s beams should converge to create a probe size described above at range greater than 200 mm.
The Probe’s laser, fixed optics, and electronics should be compact, fixed, and rigid, with a form factor under 7 inches long by 1.5 inches diameter. The incoming light from the laser probe volume should be processed by a photo multiplier tube with accompanying fast electronics for the detection of 600 m/s particle streams. The design should maintain accuracy for at least 10 years without the need for calibration.
The system should include the laser probe, signal conditioner and processing electronics, and software, which provides accurate readings of 1D-particle velocities up to 600m/s. The software’s LDV data should allow export of data containing particle velocities, both mean and RMS, for each recording to excel. The device should provide analog out of signal.
Delivery and invoicing must be occur before September 1, 2019 or earlier.
