Scope:
This Statement of Work (SOW) defines the effort required for the design, fabrication, modification, and delivery of a 40’ straight frame chassis for use in supporting, moving and safely containing a 40’ modified ISO shipping container (container does not have a gooseneck tunnel).
A. Background The NAVAIR Fuel Containment & Aerial Refueling branch has designed and fabricated a high speed gas gun to be used for ballistics testing on self-sealing fuel bladders. The material funding is to procure a 40’ chassis to support the pneumatic gas gun that has been developed by AIR 4.3.5.3 and AIR 4.3.4. The chassis will provide a structure to support the gas gun that is mounted in a 40’ modified ISO shipping container (without a gooseneck tunnel). The chassis is required due to repeated moving in and out of the Firing Tunnel. Having this capability greatly increases the speed and safety at which research and developmental ballistic gunfire testing can be performed.
REQUIREMENTS:
1) The vendor shall provide a trailer that is compatible with a 40’ modified ISO shipping container (the modified container does not have a gooseneck tunnel).
2) The trailer shall connect to the ISO 1161 corner fittings on a modified ISO 40’ (Size 1A per ISO 1161) shipping container.
3) Trailer shall have a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of at least 60,000 lbs.
4) Trailer shall be delivered to NAVAIR, Patuxent River MD.
5) Trailer shall have a 2” diameter spool type king pin towing provisions per SAE standard J700B.
6) Trailer shall have an air braking system.
7) The vendor shall prime (zinc-rich primer) and paint (urethane top coat) the chassis for corrosion resistance.
8) Chassis shall be less than 10,000 lbs. empty weight.
9) Trailer shall meet all DOT and FMVSS regulations.
10) The chassis frame shall be constructed of material per ASTM A572 or ASTM-A607 grade 50 or better.
11) The trailer shall have a suspension system.
12) The trailer shall have electrical connectors compatible with a standard road tractor.
B. Tasking:
