Section C - Descriptions and Specifications
STATEMENT OF WORK
1. SCOPE
1.1 Background. In an effort to support the United States Navy and foreign military customers’ demands, NUWC Keyport is seeking to contract with private party vendors to produce all up round (AUR) MK 28 exercise fuel tanks and MK 29 warshot fuel tanks for the MK 48 Heavyweight Torpedo. This effort aligns with other torpedo section procurements for a MK 48 Heavyweight Torpedo production restart. AUR fuel tanks have not been procured in the last twenty years, however, individual components of the fuel tank section of the torpedo have recently been procured, including the majority of the major complicated items such as the aft and forward shells, wire coil covers, and bulkheads for exercise and warshot fuel tanks that are routinely overhauled by NUWC Division, Keyport.
Although NUWC Division, Keyport routinely procures components to maintain torpedo inventory, it is not desirable to logistically manage procurement of all new parts required to produce the quantity of new fuel tanks in demand.
1.2 Purpose. This statement of work (SOW) defines the scope of work required to produce, test, and deliver MK 48 Heavyweight (HWT) Torpedo AUR fuel tanks in both exercise (Drawing [DWG] 7053373, REV G) and warshot (Drawing [DWG] 5893805, REV AM) configurations for the United States (US) and foreign military sales (FMS) customers. The contractor shall provide all necessary facilities, resources, and management required to meet the production, test, and delivery requirements of both MK 48 HWT exercise and warshot AUR fuel tank configurations.
