N0018923Q0546 Q&A

1. Are scrims required?

A:We have lighng restricons(too much) we are open to opons but fireproof scrim may be an opon.

2. The RFQ States: “The walls will be fabricated using industry standard fabrication and installation techniques used in museums and they will be suitable for supporting graphics, audio/visual components, and museum objects.”

a. Is the contractor expected to PROVIDE these graphics, AV, and exhibit cases either as fabricaon or buy outs? Yes

b. Regardless of who buys them, will the contractor be expected to install them? Yes A:

3. Will client purchase the cases or the contractor?

A:Contractor,

4. What exactly needs to be done with the walls. In terms of base and trim? Providing new b&t to old walls and new walls or just making new walls match the old walls?

A: Replacing old base and trim on exisng walls, may add to exisng walls and or fabricate temporary exhibit walls.

5. What level of interacves or AV will be needed, if they are part of this contract? There can be wildly different types of both with wildly different price tags. Just a short descripon of expectaons would be helpful.

A: Mul touch or single touch on a monitor

6. Is there a cost esmate, budget or ballpark figure for the project listed? Is there an actual start date for the project?

A: I cannot provide any informaon on the cost esmate or budget at this me. Per the statement of work, work is to start the beginning phases immediately upon date of award and be completed by September 30, 2024.

7. Can you tell us the approximate dimensions of some of the exisng arfacts to be used in the exhibit?

A: Dimensions of objects can change depending on conservaon/ mount making etc.

8. Is there a materials palete that you would like us to follow (ie specific wood types, metals, glass, or flooring)?

A: Not at this me but this would be dependent on review of script and images of arfacts to be used

9. What is the ceiling height in the exhibit space?

A: Open ceiling more than 16 to any overhead structures.

10. Would we be responsible for electrical work for the new lighng (Task 2.5)?

A: No can only add to exisng framework that is already there.

11. In what format would exisng graphics or text be supplied? (ie adobe illustrator, jpegs, hard copies, etc) A: Script will be word documents no graphics will be provided design will be part of this contract

12. The SOW Floor Plan shows an overhead of the useable exhibit space, where are the window and door openings?

A: This is an open plan space within the building there are no windows or doors to take into consideraon other than the opening into the sub force exhibit.

13. We have an acve UEI, but have not yet received a CAGE code. Does that exclude us from subming for this project?

A: You must have an acve CAGE code to eligible for award. If you receive a CAGE code before solicitaon closes, you may submit your quote and be considered for award.

14. We would like to know if this is a brand new contract OR if there is (was) an incumbent performing these services.

A: This is a new requirement.

15. Is there a maximum budget for this requirement?

A: Please see the answer to question 6.

16. Under Tasks on page 1, item 2.1.2 it lists “Floors.” The existing floor seems to be a reddish brown tile. Is this flooring expected to be replaced? Or do you anticipate some sort of ADA compliant platform or covering over the floor? Or is that item to be disregarded?

A: No flooring will not be replaced

17. The configuration of the walls of the existing exhibit Playball! as they appear in photographs appear to be slightly different than shown in the plan illustrated on page 3 of the Notice. Are the walls in those photos of Playball! the actual museum walls shown in dark grey on the plan provided? Or are these exhibit panels built around the actual museum walls?

18. A Existing Walls are in grey on plan, temporary exhibit walls will be taken down prior to start of project

The walls visible in the photos do not seem to have typical panel breaks found in standard exhibit panels. In other words, they look like painted drywall. Item 2.2 on page 2 of the Notice states "The contractor will design, fabricate, and install all walls in the exhibit.” Item 2.3 states "The contractor will fabricate and install new trim and replace base boards.” This implies revising existing walls. Can you clarify your expectations here?

A Existing Walls are drywall, yes walls can be revised per your proposed design

19. Can you explain the difference between the museum walls shown in dark grey on the plan and the “Usable exhibit space" indicated by a dashed line?

A:Dark grey are existing walls, usable space can be utilized per the design that each company will provide which may or may not include temporary walls..

20. Can you provide details re: the bunks listed Under Tasks, item 2.4 on page 2 of the Notice? Are any photos available? Is the plexiglass enclosure only for the bunks, and not the rest of the space? Obviously, provisions for 6 bunks costs more than 3. Shall we budget include enough for the larger number?

A: Please see photo, only for the bunks, total 3.

21. Under Tasks on page 2, item 2.7 it states "Contractor will install wall hung exhibit cases.” Are these cases to be designed and fabricated by the contractor, or do they exist? Please be aware that any price quoted for designing and building custom cases can only be a guess without more information regarding size, number, and content.

A: Yes

22. What is the nature of receiving at the museum in terms of labor. Will the contractor be expected to provide staff to unload deliveries and move properties and materials to the exhibit location within the building? If so, are there any union requirements for this labor? Or will the museum staff provide that service?

A:Contractor, no union requirements to my knowledge, roll up door only no loading dock.

23. Under Tasks on page 1, items 2.1.7 and 2.1.8 it lists “Interactives” and "Audio visual components." Are these items planned for this project? If so, are the interactive components conceived to be mechanical in nature or electronic? Does AV content exist?

A: Interactive see above, include for three electronic multi-touch/ or single touch monitors. AV showing cooking videos per script. Sound can be included in individual designs.

24. On page 4, under Volume II - Price Proposal it states "Failure to quote all part numbers or add additional items will result in ineligibility for award.” As this is a custom exhibit not yet designed, and in general part numbers are not relevant, can this be disregarded?

A: No, this may not be disregarded. You must quote every item that makes the total cost of your bid.
