A Virtual Japan baseline J6 Tactical Lab was installed at the Center for Surface Combat Systems
(CSCS) Dahlgren, which utilizes computers and fabricated consoles to provide a trainer that simulates realistic ship consoles in the Combat Information Center (CIC) for the purpose of school house training. The Virtual Tactical Lab will replace the current Tactical Training equipment, which is very difficult to schedule and execute in a timely manner.
The Tactical Training equipment that Japan trains on currently is not an exact replication of the equipment used in the Japanese Combat Information Center (CIC). This scenario is not ideal for a training environment and often leads to a discontinuity of learning down the road. The required equipment is necessary so that students are provided an opportunity to train on a realistic
NAVSUPINST 4200.85D, Encl (1) 2 of 3 replication of equipment onboard and mimic the tactical environment that will be experienced onboard during naval operations.
After thorough investigation and research was conducted, the sole source vendor is the only provider that offers the exact military grade Flat Panel six and a half inch (6.5”) LCD color display devices that are currently installed onboard the Japanese Combat Information Center

The required Daisy Data Displays for the J6 Tactical Lab are currently in operational use onboard Japanese naval vessels in the Combat Information Center (CIC). The Daisy Data
Display resides in the onboard console, interfaces electronically with the vessel’s tactical program and is programed to perform interactions within the tactical program. The display has variable touch configurations and functionality dependent upon on what operational action is initiated. The display uses a serial cable connection to power and transfer data between the display and the onboard tactical program. The onboard tactical program has recently been virtualized and to increase operational preparedness, mock consoles have been built for training purposes. The Daisy Data Display will be installed into the mock console and connected through a serial connection and interface with the virtualized tactical program to perform realistic training as experienced onboard.
