About this file

This document is a Justification and Approval (J&A) for the use of other than full and open competition to award a firm fixed-price contract for the acquisition of two MK 152 warhead parts - the End Formers and Casting Mask. The estimated dollar value of this procurement is $2M.

The contracting activity is the Naval Sea Systems Command, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division (NSWC IHD). A sources sought notice and pre-solicitation were posted, but no viable alternative sources were identified. The Contracting Officer determined the anticipated cost will be fair and reasonable. For future efforts, NSWC IHD plans to perform additional market research to potentially develop a second source through a qualification contract, in order to increase competition.
