Statement of Work

For

Purchase of Pentolite Pellets

1.0 BACKGROUND / SCOPE.

To support the conduct of US Navy operations worldwide, the US Naval Surface Warfare

Center, Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NSWC IHEODTD) uses a variety of test protocols to characterize energetic materials. Among these protocols are a number of impact tests, including the Naval Ordnance Laboratory (NOL) Card Gap Tests. These tests are widely used in the energetics community to determine shock sensitivity. The test requires the use of pentolite explosive pellets. These pellets are also used in a variety of other test conditions and require a wide range of sizing. The NSWC IHEODTD stockpile of pentolite pellets is low due to the ubiquitous use of these articles.
