About this file

The document is a Statement of Needs (SON) for the procurement of a Freefly Alta X blue drone by the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). The primary objective is to acquire an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) capable of lifting over 10kg to deploy a custom NRL lidar with tactical systems, supported by multiple fleet capability gaps and leadership memoranda. The procurement requires a blue drone that complies with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), includes a Buy American-Free Trade Agreements clause, and features a 12V DC-DC regulator to power payload from drone batteries.

The related federal contract opportunity is a Total Small Business Set-Aside Request for Quotations (RFQ) with NAICS code 336411 and a small business size standard of 1500. The solicitation seeks new equipment from an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), authorized dealer, distributor, or reseller, with a firm-fixed-price basis. Specific requirements include brand name or equal items, new equipment only, manufacturer warranty coverage, and compliance with OEM terms for software licensing and services. Delivery is specified to the Naval Research Laboratory at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi, with acceptance contingent on items being in full working order.
