7. Question: Will the Government confirm they would like a base contract with overages for a maintenance contract that includes all labor, parts, and all supplies (with the exception of print media)?

The previous contracts charged per sheet with different prices based on color or black and white. CLIN 0005 was charged monthly based on usage. Contractors are free to propose a different contract CLIN structure as long as the Governments requirements are met.

Language has been added below the example CLIN structure for guidance.

8. Question: Please elaborate? Is this in reference to an overage charge? If so per GSA monthly service on GSA is based on usage which requires the Govt to provide estimates based on usage? Since this is a contract to replace existing printers please provide install date and total meters for b/w and color usage on both current machines.

See question 9 in reference to overage charge question.

As provided under “Delivery and Other Requirement Information” in the solicitation.

9. Question: This device is designated as an “Office Machine” and “Light Production device. Such devices typically do not require a Fiery Controller. In order to allow for fair and open competition and reduce costs to the Government, will the Government remove the requirement for a Fiery Controller if the device meets or exceeds all other image quality requirements? As written, this specification limits competition and combined with the specification for the Production Press allows only one manufacturer to respond. There will be no loss to capability if the fiery is removed and a device with an embedded controller meets or exceeds all other specifications.

The office machine can be used as a backup for when the production press is down.

Therefore a Fiery Controller is required.

10. Question: Capacities of document feeders and paper drawers will vary by manufacturer. In the interest of fair and open competition will the Government accept a specification of 220 originals so long as the document feeder includes a batch scanning capability which allows the user to continually feed the document feeder with an unlimited number of pages for a copy and scan job?

Please refer back to the update spec in the solicitation.

11. Question: This device is designated as an “Office Machine”. A 250 sheet Bypass Capacity is an atypical and exclusionary requirement for Office Machine technology. In the interest of fair and open competition, will the Government accept the industry standard of 100 pages for Bypass Capacity?

Please refer back to the update spec in the solicitation.

12. Question: This device is designated as an “Office Machine”. 360 gsm is an atypical and exclusionary requirement for Office Machine technology. In the interest of fair and open competition, will the Government accept the industry standard of 60 to 300 gsm pages for Bypass Capacity?

Please refer back to the update spec in the solicitation.

13. Question: Virtually all “Light Production” machines do not utilize 110V power but use 208V power. Per the FAR and in the interest of fair and open competition, will the Government accept a power requirement of 208-240 V, 16 A? As written, this will allow only one manufacturer to respond. Power requirement is device dependent. Please refer back to the update spec in the solicitation as this has been removed.

– 360 gsm?

Please refer back to the update spec in the solicitation.
