Moored Microstructure-Sensing Packages (MicroMoors) Specifications
Naval Research Laboratory Stennis has the requirement for the purchase of two moored microstructure-sensing packages (referred as MicroMoors) for deployment in deep-sea moorings. A given MicroMoor consists of flotation, housing, and internally-recording turbulent-sensing package; velocity, direction, and hydrographic sensors; and external battery packs rated for long-term deployments at various depths in the upper 500 m of the ocean.
The two moored microstructure-sensing packages must include two units of Nemo-88 flotation buoys with custom cutouts for instrumentation (SM-500-1500-MF), with:
· Mounting bracket and MCBH Y-cable for customer-supplied SBE3/4 sensors;
· Nortek battery long case with one set of Alkaline battery packs for testing and assembly;
· Mounting hardware for Nemo-88 yoke/bridal assembly;
· Set of cables consisting of Deck Cable, Cable from MR1k to Nortek Battery, Cable from MR to MP-EM, extension cable for a shorting plug to turn instrument on, and a shorting ON Switch;
· Two units of MicroPod-Em sensors, current-meter cabled version including mounting bracket;
· A MicroRider-1000 with a titanium housing, two shear probes, two FP07-1000 installed, EM current meter input, three-axis magnetometer, SBE 3 and SBE 4 sensor inputs, 64-GB memory card, sensor guard;
· A customer-supplied MicroRider-1000 upgraded to a titanium housing, an EM-current meter input, SBE3 and SBE4 sensor inputs, 64-GB memory card, sensor guard;
· Software for programing and data download should be provided, and must be easy to operate and MS Windows based.
The vendor builds these on a placed order basis, and the delivery date for all items is roughly 20 weeks after receipt of purchase order. This is acceptable however items must be received at our lab at Stennis Space Center by mid-March to be prepared for shipping for the scheduled field experiment.
