Statement of Work
Vibracoring company that has extensive experience working on the continental shelf is sought to vibracore (VC) in water depths of 60-90 meters (180 to 270 feet) during the period of 3-14
August 2015.
The mobilization will occur in Woods Hole, MA at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.
The vibracoring will be conducted south of Martha’s Vineyard (Figures 1a and 1b) in a designated section.
Demobilization will occur in Lewes DE at the home port of the RV Sharp.
The vessel that will be used for the operations is the RV Sharp – for specific details on ship capabilities go to the webpage (http://www.ceoe.udel.edu/schools-departments/school-of-marine-science-and-policy/marine-operations/r-v-hugh-r-sharp).
The vibracoring company will be responsible for all mobilization, demobilization and vibracoring operations. This will require set up prior to the cruise and take down after the culmination of the cruise.
The company will provide two experience vibracoring persons to operate the system on the boat and collect the sediment samples, which will be mud and/or sand. The two persons will be responsible for collecting up to 20 sediment cores. The sediment samples need to be removed from the VC and the plastic tubing will need to be cut into 1 meter lengths of core section.
The core sections will need to be capped, taped and cleaned for on-board core logging. The on-board core logging will be conducted by a specified member of the research party.
The contract should include pricing for the following:
1. Mobilization and demobilization costs
2. Vibracoring operations for the time period of the cruise
3. Materials
4. Two persons to conduct the vibracoring operations.
a. Mobilization (2 August at WHOI) and demobilization (14 August at Lewes DE)
b. Field cruise operations (3-14 August) http://www.ceoe.udel.edu/schools-departments/school-of-marine-science-and-policy/marine-operations/r-v-hugh-r-sharp http://www.ceoe.udel.edu/schools-departments/school-of-marine-science-and-policy/marine-operations/r-v-hugh-r-sharp
