Questions from Industry
1. Should the generator be capable of powering the container?
Yes
2. Should the air compressor be an oil lubricated type or oil less type?
Oil less
3. Insulation is sprayed on to the bottom side of the floor, so there is no need for a subfloor. Which flooring finish is preferred?
1/8" thickness aluminum diamond plate
4. What material should the worktop be made of?
Wood or metal is acceptable, preferably wood
5. What should the height of the shelf be?
34"
6. Should the interior be painted?
Aluminum diamond plate wall covering does not need to be painted.
7. Should the container be a 8.5' standard height or a 9.5' high cube?
8.5' Standard height
8. What is the preferred timeline for completion?
Delivery MUST comply with required date as outlined in the Specifications and Solicitation
9. Will this need a crane for delivery or will there be equipment capable of unloading onsite?
Delivery contractor will need to provide all equipment to offload the container. No offloading equipment is available onsite.
10. Where shall the vents for generator air/exhaust be located?
Any location in the exterior walls of the compressor/generator compartment
11. Should the air compressor be plumbed through the partition wall for air use inside the tool room?
Yes
12. Should there be a switch in the tool room which turns the air compressor on or just the breaker in the panel?
Switch in the tool room
13. Which side of the wall should the circuit breaker panel be accessed from?
The interior wall on the tool depot side NOT the compressor/generator compartment side
14. Could you please clarify the correct shipping address for this project:
5321 Riggs Road, Gaithersburg, MD
15. What is the intent of the generator? Is it for backup power for the whole unit? Or will it only power the air compressor and ancillary tools?
Power for the whole unit
16. Will the cargo doors be open when the generator is running?
Yes; though installation of exhaust for the generator is acceptable as well
17. Is a floor covering over the existing wood required in the generator area?
No
18. I know the drawing is just a guide to build the container. Are the specifics up to the builder? the e Yes, though dimensions of the shelves ar diamond plate walls have to be? 1/8" thickness
19. What type of insulation is expected?
Foam or polymeric insulation
20. For the workbench with drawers and shelf, do they need to be made of metal (what type) or wood?
Metal or wood is acceptable
21. Are there any 220v receptacles needed?
No
22. How many Amps does the circuit breaker have to be?
Generator circuit 30 Amps; Shore power circuit 50 Amps.
23. How big is the compressor/generator that will be used?
Generator minimum 4500 W, 120V, 60Hz; Compressor minimum 10 gallons and capable of 90 PSI
24. Would a mini split that is heating and cooling be ok? If so, Would 1 ton mini split be ok?
Proposer would need to provide additional information about mounting of external component of the mini split before this can be determined
25. The door to the compressor/generator room, would you like it inside the container or outside?
Outside
26. The specifications call for a 4500 W 120V generator. This generator will produce approximately 38 Amps continuous load. Given the HVAC System will use about 16 AMPS in heat mode, and 3 lights will use about 4 Amps, will the remaining 18 Amps be enough for entire tool room?
Yes
27. It states "Installation of exterior electrical components and connections to connect the container to shore-based power". There are specifications for what type of exterior electrical components or type of shore power; 1-phase, 3-phase,120V, 240V or 480V:
50A 1-phase 120V/240V
28. The attached drawing and specifications listed in above solicitation make no mention of venting in the area containing the compressor and diesel generator, nor any mention of installing an exhaust system for diesel generator to exhaust fumes while in operation. Will rear doors always be open while they are being operated?
Yes; though installation of exhaust for the generator is acceptable.
29. The attached drawing shows the HVAC unit mounted on the wall leading to the area containing the Generator and compressor. It is our opinion this will lead to the distinct possibility of fumes being drawn into the tool room area. It would be our suggestion both the HVAC unit and 36" door be mounted on the same wall opposite the swing doors.
This is an acceptable configuration.
30. Does the offerer need to provide the manufacturer and specifications for the generator, air compressor, and the HVAC unit in our proposal, or will just the specifications of each suffice?
All specifications are preferred but generator, air compressor, and HVAC specifications are not required.
31. Does our quote need to have separate line items for the generator, air compressor, HVAC, etc., or can they all be included as a total amount?
Total amount is fine
32. Workbench Material - Does the workbench top need to be wood or stainless steel?
Wood or metal is acceptable, preferably wood
